Vintage and Modern Electronic Musical Instrument Repair

I repair, restore, modify and make awesome all makes and models of vintage and modern tube amplifiers including guitar and bass amplifiers and just about any other tube based musical instrument or audio device. Although I focus most of my attention on tube audio repair and design, I also repair select solid-state guitar and bass amps, keyboards, pa gear, effect pedals and other weird and oddball noise making devices. I also repair and modify guitar and bass instrument wiring.

If you can’t live without it and I can find parts for it, I will repair it. I believe that every instrument has its place regardless of the technology used to produce it. I specialize in repairing difficult to troubleshoot and random intermittent problems.

Repair Process:

Check Out: Basic assessment of your amplifier is free. I will open the chassis so you see what I see. I check your amplifier out while you watch and we discuss how you want to approach the repair. (common repair, modification, overhaul, etc.) This way, I can give you a complete estimate and time frame before you leave. Most repairs are completed in three to ten days (based on parts availability). Rush and while you watch repairs are also available.

Repair:  I place special focus on making your amplifier function and sound the best it can as intended by the manufacturer. I will return your dull, lifeless tube instrument to the source of your sonic inspiration. I only use the most appropriate components for the application taking into consideration fit and function. My repair methods and practices meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specifications. I never compromise your amplifiers tone or reliability.

Testing: I completely test every amplifier, more than once, to ensure the amplifier is functioning and sounding as it was intended by the manufacturer. I generally test the amplifier once I complete the repair, before reassembly, and again after full assembly.

Guarantee: All repairs are labor warrantied for no less than 90 days. Tubes and other parts are warrantied for 90 days or the length of the manufactures warranty for that part.

Modifications:

Modifications beyond what the manufacturer intended are sometimes necessary to personalize the tone of your tube amplifiers, effects pedals, or guitars to best suit your style of play. I prefer to address all basic functioning needs of the amplifier before we choose modifications.
